About Down to Earth
How we Started
Down To Earth began as a small venture when Suzanne Bristow, with two small children, began an organic box scheme from her home, twenty years ago. Having been brought up on home grown food, Suzanne had an appreciation for organic fruit and vegetables, and so set about trying to make it more accessible for people, whilst also being able to work from home. She joined up with local growers and before long, her home was taken over by sacks of potatoes and carrots! A year down the road, a box customer set about encouraging Suzanne to open up a shop, and had found the perfect location! Suzanne never set out to start a shop, but it all just grew ‘organically’ as she went with the flow.
